What are the best microSDHC and microSDXC memory cards for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge?
After the bizarre absence of a memory card slot on the Samsung Galaxy S6 released back in 2015, the microSD memory card slot makes a welcome return to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge series. The Galaxy S7 series are compatible with microSDHC and microSDXC memory cards to 200GB.
A memory card is a must for users who have lots of data such as photos, videos, music or other types of files and data that they wish to freely, and at will move between devices. It’s currently the easiest way to transport and move data around.
Below we give you an idea on which memory cards are right for you and your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. This will depend on what you intend to use your S7 for.
Let’s start by talking about the video features of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge because this will ultimately dictate which memory card you will need.
The all new Samsung Galaxy S7 series are equipped with 2160p video functionality which is essentially another fancy name for 4K video. The general rule of thumb for anyone looking for a memory card to shoot 4K video is that you need a U3 rated memory card or something with 45MB/s minimum write speeds. Most standard Class 10 cards do not offer 45MB/s minimum write speeds. We recommend a U3 rated card to be safe if you wish to shoot in 4K video. Simply look for the U3 logo on the microSD card.
The 3 video settings available on the Galaxy S7 series are; 2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps and 720p@240fps.
2160p@30fps (4K)
4K (Minimum of U3 spec required – look for the U3 logo on a microSDHC or microSDXC memory card)
1080p@60fps (HD)
HD (Minimum of a Class 10 card required – look for the Class 10 logo on a microSDHC or microSDXC memory card)
720p@240fps (HD)
HD (Minimum of a Class 10 card required – look for the Class 10 logo on a microSDHC or microSDXC memory card)

Offering write speeds to 40MB/s and read speeds to 60MB/s they’re pretty handy for people who need to transfer data quickly between devices.
