iXpand Will Not Connect to my Apple iPad or iPhone. How to fix.

If you have the original SanDisk iXpand 16GB, 32GB, 64GB or 128GB USB flash drive (or phase 1 model as we like to call. It has now been improved with a newer smaller USB 3.0 version) you may be experiencing issues with trying to get this to connect to your Apple device. We have created a small and short guide on how to fix this which will ensure you can get your iXpand working and syncing perfectly with your device.
There is a simple fix to this.
If you have iOS version 9.x.x installed on your Apple iPhone or Apple iPad, you simply need to update the firmware on the iXpand device as when you try to connect the iXpand you will find that it will not connect to your Apple devices.
Here is how to perform this crucial update;
If you have not yet updated your Apple iPhone or iPad to iOS9 do the following:
Simply update the iXpand flash drive firmware by syncing the app to version 1.1.9 or higher via your chosen app store. Plug in the iXpand into your device and allow it update the firmare.
If you have updated your Apple iPhone or iPad to iOS9 do the following:
If you have updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS9 or above then you must use an iOS8 compatible device or a PC to complete the update. Something like a Windows based PC will be perfect for this task. The choose from point 1 or 2 from the below depending on which of these methods you have chosen.
1) Using an iOS8 compatible device you can perform the update this way:
- Go to your chosen app store and download the latest iXpand sync app onto your device
- Plug in your iXpand to your device and allow the app to update the iXpand firmware
2) Using a Windows based PC you can perform the update in the following way:
- Download the 'iXpand Update Tool For Windows' by clicking here and navigating to the link at the bottom of the page under 'Using a windows based PC'.
- Plug in the iXpand into your PC USB port and run the above tool
- The tool will then recognise the iXpand
- Follow the on screen wizard to complete the iXpand firmware update
